The Battle of Sagrajas (479 AH / 1086 AD)
Abstract This study discusses one of the decisive battles in Islamic history in Al-Andalus, which took place in the year 479 AH / 1086 AD, between the Almoravid forces led by Yusuf ibn Tashfin and the Spanish forces led by Alfonso VI, this battle came in response to the call of Al-Mu'tamid ibn Abbad and the other Taifa kings to Yusuf ibn Tashfin to intervene, help them, and repel the attacks of Alfonso VI, and to stop his continuous advance towards the cities of Al-Andalus. Yusuf ibn Tashfin responded to the call, and the battle ended with the victory of his army and the defeat of Alfonso VI, this had a great positive impact on the psychological and political state of the princes of Al-Andalus in general, the research will focus on the events and developments of this historic battle and analyze the differing perspectives regarding its results and consequences, The study showed that the Battle of Zallaqa was not merely a military victory, but this triumph contributed to paving the way for the Almoravid intervention in Andalusian affairs, making it a pivotal turning point in Islamic history in Al-Andalus.
