As part of the Faculty of Arts and Humanities' efforts to keep pace with developments in the digital world, the Department of University Requirements for Humanities Colleges organized a specialized scientific symposium entitled: (Language and Translation in the Age of Digitalization). This took place on Wednesday, May 7, 2025, in the Sheikh Ahmed bin Hamad Al-Khalili Hall at the Omani Center for Research and Studies.

Representing the Dean of the Faculty of Arts and Humanities, Professor Saeed Abu Khader, the Vice Deans Professor Mahmoud Al-Deeki and Professor Anwar Al-Khalidi sponsored the event. In attendance were the Vice Dean of the Deanship of Scientific Research, Professor Ayman Al-Taani, the Assistant Dean of the Faculty of Arts, Dr. Maisoon Al-Zaghoul, and the Head of the Department of University Requirements for Humanities Colleges, Dr. Faisal Al-Muayouf. These individuals participated in the activities of the symposium organized by the Department of University Requirements for Humanities Colleges, with the participation of a number of researchers and colleagues who presented valuable research papers in this field.

In a speech delivered by the Vice Dean, Professor Mahmoud Al-Deeki, he pointed out the importance of such scientific symposia and the role of Al al-Bayt University in promoting these meetings. He also pointed out the role of modern technologies in the field of machine translation, stressing the importance of investing in the energies of youth and the scientific and creative efforts of colleagues in the Department of Requirements, in line with the philosophy of Al al-Bayt University and its lofty scientific mission.

For his part, the session director, Head of the Department of University Requirements for Humanities Colleges, Dr. Faisal Al-Muayouf, explained that the Department of Requirements at Al al-Bayt University is always keen to keep pace with technological developments and modern technology and introduce them into the fields of knowledge. He pointed out that the Department of Requirements is one of the most interested departments in employing digital technologies in teaching and learning languages.

He added: "Digitalization has become a pivotal factor in reshaping the relationship between diverse languages and cultures. Language and translation emerge not only as a medium for transmitting information, but also as a bridge for communication between civilizations in a world characterized by globalization and interdependence.

As for the scientific papers presented at this symposium, it began with a speech by colleague Professor Abdul Karim Jaradat, which was entitled: "The Effectiveness of Artificial Intelligence in Translating Jordanian Folk Proverbs into Persian: Deep Seek as a Model," where the colleague shed light on significant challenges; especially in light of the complex cultural nature of proverbs that carry historical and social connotations that artificial intelligence may not easily understand.

Then followed colleague Dr. Walid Al-Hajj with a research paper entitled: "Translation and its Role in Cultural Influence Between Peoples." He pointed out that translation is not just linguistic transfer, but a transformative process that works to reduce temporal and spatial differences between peoples, enabling them to understand each other and contributing to building bridges of cooperation and cultural convergence between different cultures.

Dr. Fatima Ismail addressed a research paper entitled: "Arabic Language and Digitalization," where she highlighted the importance of studying language in light of the era of digital transformation, which poses a challenge and an opportunity for living languages, including the Arabic language.

On the other hand, teachers Amer Al-Masaeed and Reema Al-Issa spoke about their research paper, which was entitled: "AI Integration within Language Learning and Acquisition." Where they focused on the importance of taking advantage of smart applications in the future of language education in the rapidly accelerating age of digitalization.

Colleague teacher Marwa Al-Kanj spoke about her research paper, which was entitled: "How to Design the Right Translation Prompts," as she shed light on the basic aspects that must be taken into account when formulating translation prompts, especially in light of the increasing reliance on artificial intelligence tools. With an emphasis on the importance of this topic in light of current technological developments in the field of translation.

In the last research paper presented by colleague Hala Smiran, and it was entitled: "Enhancing Language Learning Through AI-Powered Gaming Apps." Where she shed light in her research paper on this innovative approach to language education that combines benefit and enjoyment.

At the conclusion of this symposium, Dr. Faisal Al-Muayouf, the session director and Head of the Department of University Requirements for Humanities Colleges, expressed his sincere thanks to the Vice Deans for honoring the symposium with their gracious presence and sponsorship. He also extended special thanks to the distinguished guests, researchers, students, and colleagues for their valuable participation, which enriched the discussion and added a new dimension to the topic of "Language and Translation in the Age of Digitalization," which contributed to the success of this scientific symposium, and to emphasizing the need for communication in new cultural activities, God willing.
