A memorandum of understanding was signed between the Ministry of Awqaf and Religious Affairs in the Sultanate of Oman and Al al-Bayt University in the Hashemite Kingdom of Jordan regarding the development of the Omani Studies Unit at the University. This is in order to enhance opportunities of cooperation between academic and research institutions in the two brotherly countries.

On behalf of the Omani side, the MOU was signed by Sheikh Ahmed Al-Khalili, the Grand Mufti of the Sultanate, and on behalf of the University, it was signed by Prof. Hani Al-Dmour in attendance of the Jordanian Ambassador to the Sultanate of Oman, His Excellency Mr. Amjad Al-Qahaiwi, the Vice President for Academic Affairs, Prof. Mohammad Al-Harahsheh, and the Director of the Omani Studies Unit, Prof. Anwar Al-Khalidi.
