Enseigner la civilisation francaise a un public arabophone de Jordanie : propositions didactiques
The acquisition of the cultural competence in the field of foreign languages is a very important issue and not easy to acquire, this competence is targeted by teaching/learning. Acquisition of the cultural competence requires a lot of effort from the teacher and the learner. In this study, we will try to analyze the teaching of French civilization in a university department in Jordan. Our public is composed of Jordanian learners, Arabic-speakers, who have no contact with French before entering university. We will begin by defining some terms that are closely related to our study. Next, we will analyze the method used for the teaching of French civilization in our department. Finally, we will try to propose recommendations that can improve the acquisition of cultural competence by our learners. Being a teacher of French Language in a university department allows us to participate in the development of French teaching. In the last part devoted to didactic propositions which guarantee the development of this competence, we will see several propositions such as : choosing the most appropriate manual to the learners, teaching the foreign culture by relying on the own culture of the learner, the teacher must develop a sense of comparison between cultures for his learners, the teacher must try to make the foreign culture interesting for the learners by associating this culture with pleasant things with consider of being objective with his own culture, etc.
