Minister of Interior Mazen Al-Farrayeh, in the presence of the Governor of Mafraq, Firas Abu Al-Ghanam, and the President of the University, Professor Osama Nusair, launched the first Entrepreneurship Day to promote local innovation and stimulate economic growth in the governorate, in partnership between Al al-Bayt University and the Entrepreneurship Network in the North, one of the main initiatives within the Entrepreneurship for Sustainable Economic Development and Employment (E4DE) project, co-funded by the German Federal Ministry for Economic Cooperation and Development (BMZ) and the European Union (EU), and implemented by the German Agency for International Cooperation (GIZ) in cooperation with the Ministry of Digital Economy and Entrepreneurship, which was organized by the University through the Center of Excellence, Innovation and Entrepreneurship, and comes within the framework of supporting the spirit of innovation and entrepreneurship among the local community in Mafraq Governorate and promoting emerging and development projects in the region, in the conference hall at the Imam Muslim building at the University.
University President Nusair expressed during the ceremony that the University is part of this فعال initiative and a constructive part in its organization, and it constitutes a vital platform to review success stories in Mafraq, because it believes in promoting the culture of entrepreneurship and contributes to stimulating any energy and transforming it into creative projects and ideas to build the Jordanian economy, which resulted in the launch of this entrepreneurial day in Mafraq, stressing the University's keenness to provide real training opportunities for graduate students in order to equip them with the skills necessary to enter the labor market, which is an important step towards promoting a culture of entrepreneurship and innovation, and providing an incubator environment for entrepreneurial projects in the governorate, announcing before the attendees the launch of the University's Techno Hub business incubator to provide the necessary support for all entrepreneurs in business and enable them to implement their projects on the ground.
Governor of Mafraq, Firas Abu Al-Ghanam, confirmed that organizing this day is an actual embodiment of the vision of economic modernization launched by His Majesty King Abdullah II, which aims to empower entrepreneurs and enhance their role as key partners in the future of Jordan, pointing out that this initiative is in line with the royal visions and directives in supporting youth, innovation, and entrepreneurial projects at the national level, and is the result of the integration between the efforts of the governorate and the university in building a comprehensive entrepreneurial environment that stimulates creativity.
The Deputy German Ambassador to Jordan, Mr. Guido Kemerling, affirmed in his speech on behalf of the German government that Mafraq Governorate is a fertile environment for entrepreneurship, due to its wealth of youth energies and promising entrepreneurial institutions, pointing to the pivotal role played by Al al-Bayt University through the Center of Excellence for Creativity and Innovation, which contributes to providing entrepreneurial opportunities and innovative business projects for young people, and these efforts constitute an important national economic tributary, adding that the presence of expertise within the university, along with distinguished projects at the governorate level, contributes to forming an integrated business environment that embraces the aspirations of young people, which opens broad horizons towards a promising economic future.
The representative of entrepreneurship in the north, consultant Asim Shudaifat, indicated that such an entrepreneurial day is a real new start for joint cooperation to link entrepreneurs with available opportunities, and build real partnerships with the private sector, international organizations, and donor funding agencies, in order to enhance the business environment in the governorate.
The ceremony, which was held in the seminar and conference hall at the Imam Muslim building at the university, witnessed the presence of a number of dignitaries and deputies of the governorate, the university's vice presidents, a number of senior officials, and representatives of government institutions and various sectors in the governorate, the launch of the Mafraq Award presented by Dr. Makhled Al-Hawamdeh, and the holding of dialogue sessions and the opening of the exhibition, which included entrepreneurial projects, home products, and introductory services, as well as a presentation of success stories in Mafraq.
