The Center for Women's Studies and the Department of Medical Laboratory Sciences organize an awareness event

The Center for Women's Studies, in partnership with the Faculty of Science, Department of Laboratory Medical Sciences at Al al-Bayt University, held on Sunday and Monday, 25-26/7/2022, in cooperation with the Jordanian Breast Cancer Program supported by the King Hussein Cancer Foundation and Center, an awareness lecture within the “Awareness is Power" project. The lecture is entitled: “Early Detection of Breast and Cervical Cancer", with the aim of raising awareness and highlighting the importance of early detection in raising the cure rate of the disease. During the lecture, Magda Adgheim presented statistics, risk factors and prevention of the disease, in addition to the symptoms of the disease and methods of early detection of breast cancer, including breast self-awareness (breast self-examination), clinical examination, mammogram (examination by radiology) and cervical cancer (risk factors and symptoms of early detection tests and prevention). She stressed the importance of periodic examination, which contributes to the chances of a full recovery from the disease, in addition to the role of society and parents and their responsibility to educate their families.

It is worth mentioning that questionnaires were distributed before and after the lecture to the attendees to provide the Jordanian Breast Cancer Program with the necessary data to know the level of awareness of the disease among women in Mafraq Governorate.

The Director of the Center for Women's Studies, Dr. Bayan Al-Madi, moderated the lecture, which was attended by a number of university employees and students.​
