Closing the forum of “Ana Usharek” at Al al-Bayt University
The
Independent Electoral Commission concluded the activities of the first “Ana
Usharek” youth forum at the university, which was carried out in cooperation
with the Crown Prince Foundation. Launching this forum came as an embodiment of
the royal vision to integrate Jordanian youth into universities through dialogue
and political action. This is to contribute to building a generation that
believes in its homeland and leadership and integrates into teamwork.
Technical
Adviser and Director of the Partnership Project, Mr. Aws Qteishat, indicated
that these training sessions constitute a youth dialogue space, that
contributes to enhancing dialogue and communication skills, stimulates critical
thinking skills and helps identify important issues and needs, focusing on the
concepts of national identity, active citizenship, and political participation
for youth, women and people with disabilities.
Topics
related to the political participation of youth were also discussed. The
trainees came up with proposals, visions and perceptions that enhance and
activate their political, partisan and electoral participation based on respect
for diversity, pluralism and commitment to the rule of law.
This
forum was an opportunity to build the capacities of participating students, as
the university responded to the royal directives and the outcomes of the
Political System Modernization Committee, part of which revolved around the
need to activate the role of youth and their political participation. The
university also supported the idea in a way that enhances the role of Jordanian
youth in dialogue and political activities and empowering them at universities.
