Applied Geography, Sustainable Development Training Workshop at the University
The Department of Applied Geography in the Faculty of Arts and Humanities organized a training workshop entitled "Applied Geography and Sustainable Development," targeting students of the department. It was presented by Dr. Faisal Al-Muaiouf, Head of the Department of University Requirements for Humanities Faculties.
During the workshop, Dr. Al-Muaiouf discussed the role of the geographer in protecting the environment and managing natural resources. The current environmental reality was highlighted by diagnosing the most prominent challenges, such as climate change, the water resources crisis, land degradation and desertification, and urban sprawl. A number of integrated resource management strategies were also reviewed, as well as the importance of employing applied geography in achieving sustainable development goals.
The workshop was attended by the Vice Dean of the Faculty of Arts and Humanities, Dr. Ayed Taran, the Head of the Department of Applied Geography, Dr. Maysoun Al-Zaghoul, and the Assistant Dean of the Faculty of Arts, Dr. Hassan Al-Harbi, in addition to Dr. Bashar Al-Khawaldeh, Dr. Khawla Al-Maayeh, and a number of students from the Department of Applied Geography, emphasizing the importance of such workshops in enhancing the applied and cognitive aspects of students and linking them to sustainable development issues.
