Symposium at the university on "From Prevention to Treatment: A Methodology for Dealing with Extremist Thought"

On behalf of the President of the University, the Vice President for Community Affairs, Professor Dr. Hani Akho Arshida, sponsored the scientific symposium entitled "From Prevention to Treatment: A Methodology for Dealing with Extremist Thought," which was organized by the Faculty of Sharia in the Al-Bakhit Amphitheater at the University. It comes within a series of lectures and seminars, where the Faculty of Sharia recently introduced quality scientific courses for its students in security, community peace, Islamic legislation, and intellectual security.

Dean of the Faculty of Sharia, Professor Dr. Anas Abu Atta, explained during the lecture that there are models from the Islamic community who practiced terrorism and extremism against caliphs and scholars since Amir al-Mu'minin Uthman bin Affan, who was killed by extremists, to Imam al-Mufassir al-Tabari, who was also affected by extremism and terrorism, explaining the legal aspect of prevention and treatment of extremism, pointing to the role of the university as a platform for awareness and moderate Islam that combines the world and religion, and we, through the Faculty of Sharia, spread awareness to those who carry the flame of Islam.

The representative of the President of the University, Dr. Hani Akho Arshida, explained the university's progress and its efforts in supporting the efforts of the Public Security Directorate in consolidating community peace through the preparation of studies and future plans, referring to the means of social upbringing, and also referred to the joint cooperation with the Public Security Directorate through a number of memoranda of understanding.

Major Anas Oudat from the Community Peace Center in the Public Security Directorate spoke about the security aspect of extremism and terrorism, where he pointed to the role of the center in maintaining community peace and security, as its work falls within the prevention of terrorism and extremism and its role in preserving community peace from bullying and hate speech, explaining the modern methods and means that the center deals with in order to prevent them through awareness and education.

Al-Oudat also referred to the main axes that the center deals with, which are represented in preventing extremism and the electronic agent, as he explained the effects of electronic polarization of terrorist organizations and how to confront them and their impact on societies and awareness of them with the optimal use of social media.

At the conclusion of the lecture, which was attended by members of the faculty and included a purposeful scientific discussion, the lecturers shed light on confronting extremist thought with the participation of college students.​
