Lecture on civil law firms at the Faculty of Law at Al al-Bayt University
Under the patronage of the Dean of the Faculty of Law at Al al-Bayt University, Professor Dr. Samer Dalal'ah, the faculty held a lecture entitled "Civil Law Firms." Dr. Abdullah Al-Soufani spoke about the divisions of civil law firms, describing them as commercial companies based on speculation and profit, or civil companies based on providing a specific activity, even if it results in profit, according to modern legislation. He clarified the legal and regulatory characteristics of civil companies that make them completely different from commercial companies, whether in terms of the nature of the activity, the method of management, or the nature of the responsibility placed on the partners.
Al-Soufani added that the laws governing the work of civil law firms include the Bar Association Law, which permits the establishment of civil companies between lawyers in one office to practice the profession of law, the Commercial Companies Law, which permits the registration of civil companies with the registrar in a special register called the Civil Companies Register, which is established between partners with expertise and professions, and the Jordanian Civil Law, which contains some general provisions specific to civil companies in terms of definition, acquisition of legal personality, and rules of establishment.
At the end of the lecture, which was moderated by Professor Dr. Omar Al-Ateen and attended by a number of faculty members and students, a discussion took place on the subject of the lecture.
