The Smart Agriculture Open Day was organized by the College of Technical Education in cooperation with the Erasmus Plus program.

On behalf of the President of the University, Professor Osama Nusier, the Vice President for Financial Affairs, Professor Marai Bani Khaled, sponsored the Smart Agriculture Open Day, which was organized by the Faculty of Technical Education in cooperation with the Erasmus+ program. The Smart Agriculture Open Day was part of the SAFER project at Al al-Bayt University, under the title "From Climate Resilience to Smart Agriculture Diploma," which took place in the university's conference building.


In his speech, Dr. Bani Khaled emphasized the real partnership that the university enjoys with global academic and scientific institutions.


Dr. Marai Bani Khaled, representing the President of the University, pointed out the university's interest in investing in digital technology, noting the university's efforts to integrate scientific research and link it to outputs that address the climatic and environmental challenges facing the agricultural sector. He highlighted the university's role in this dialogue to review successful experiences to contribute to finding practical and innovative solutions that serve the community and the nation by strengthening partnerships with the private sector, building bridges of cooperation with the agricultural sector, developing entrepreneurial projects, and providing students with the skills necessary for the labor market.


The Dean of the Faculty, Dr. Majed Ibrahim Harahsheh, explained that the project, which is considered unique within the Erasmus+ program for capacity building in higher education, aims to bring about a qualitative shift in agricultural education by linking academic knowledge with practical application and the needs of the agricultural sector.


He pointed out that the project focuses on developing smart agricultural systems, promoting climate resilience, and modernizing educational curricula to keep pace with digital transformation and green growth requirements.


It contributes to building advanced applied skills in the areas of water management, sensors, geographic information systems, smart irrigation, and agricultural data analysis, which enhances students' readiness for the labor market. The importance of the project is highlighted in its support for the creation of a smart agriculture diploma and the building of sustainable partnerships between the university and the agricultural sector, transforming climate and agricultural challenges into educational and training opportunities that contribute to serving the community and achieving sustainable development.


The Open Day included an introduction to the project, presented by Dr. Bara'a Al-Nimrawi, Head of the Department of Engineering and Smart Systems, where she explained that the SAFER project is supported by the European Union in partnership with eight universities from five different countries, aiming to exchange different experiences.


She presented the questionnaires for agricultural producers, faculty members, and students so that the outputs can be used to develop the smart agriculture plan at Al al-Bayt University.


The first session, presented by Dr. Qassem Abdel-Al, Director of Nexus Niger for Technical Solutions and a lecturer at the German University, was about smart agriculture solutions. The second session featured Engineer Mazen Abu Qamar, Director General of the EXSAAB Association for Sustainable Development, discussing agricultural development. In the third session, Engineer Imad Al-Rajoub presented a practical presentation on drone technology.
