A university awareness session on green buildings was organized by the Faculty of Technical Education.
The Faculty of Technical Education organized an awareness session on green buildings, hosting a delegation from the Jordan Green Building Council, including Eng. Ghaidaa Salameh, Executive Director of the Council, Eng. Dania Shaaban, Membership Officer, and Eng. Nisreen Abu Dieh, Training Officer, in the presence of the Dean of the Faculty, Dr. Majed Ibrahim, a number of faculty and administrative staff, and college students, in the Al-Bakhit Auditorium at the Faculty of Business at the University.
The session aimed to raise awareness of the importance of green buildings and their role in energy efficiency, waste management, achieving environmental sustainability, and rationalizing energy and water consumption, in addition to introducing the latest global practices and standards in the field of sustainable construction.
During the session, the Dean of the Faculty, Dr. Majed Al-Harahsheh, highlighted the importance of holding such awareness sessions that contribute to enhancing students' awareness of the labor market in their careers and projects, explaining that participation in events, activities, and experiences aims to provide them with leadership skills and experiences and consolidate the concepts of sustainability and green building, in line with modern developments in the engineering and technical fields, pointing to the labor market and the need to link training with the curriculum and create job opportunities for graduates at the diploma level in the future.
Dr. Baraa Al-Nimrawi, Head of the Department of Engineering and Smart Systems, affirmed that such activities reflect the wise national vision of the importance of investing in human resources, empowerment, innovation, and clean energy in the fields of modern technology and business sustainability, by enhancing the university's role in keeping pace with scientific developments and building national and environmental partnerships that enhance the university's orientations.
During the session, Eng. Ghaidaa Salameh from the Jordanian Council provided a definition of the council and the tasks it performs in coordination with many national institutions and companies with the aim of creating balanced training for students. She also explained the main concepts of green buildings and the importance of promoting environmental culture among students and encouraging them to adopt the concepts of sustainable development in various engineering and technical fields. She also clarified the most prominent opportunities for transitioning towards green buildings.
At the conclusion of the awareness session, Dr. Al-Harahsheh honored the participants with certificates of appreciation, and an interactive dialogue and discussion took place in which the students present participated, during which Eng. Salameh answered their questions and inquiries.
