Al-Bayt University Participates in AI Expo Jordan 2026

Under the directives of the President of Al al-Bayt University, Professor Dr. Osama Nusier, the university, represented by the Prince Al Hussein Bin Abdullah College of Information Technology, participated in the AI Expo Jordan 2026, organized by the Institute of Electrical and Electronics Engineers – Computational Intelligence Society (IEEE CIS) at the University of Jordan, with the participation of more than 100 teams from various Jordanian universities. Their projects competed within five main tracks including healthcare, government technology, financial technology, robotics, and education.

Student Yahya Lababneh, from the Department of Data Science and Artificial Intelligence, achieved a distinguished accomplishment by securing third place for his project OmniDiag among student projects at the exhibition. This came after qualifying for the final stage within the healthcare track and competing against a selection of outstanding projects from various tracks.

OmniDiag: An Integrated Smart System for Clinical Decision Support

The OmniDiag project is an advanced applied model for employing artificial intelligence techniques to support medical decisions. It was designed and developed by student Yahya Lababneh with the aim of assisting doctors in assessing the risks of coronary artery disease and diabetes, given the increasing number of patients and daily work pressure, and the accompanying challenges in making diagnostic decisions.

The system is distinguished by providing clear recommendations regarding the need to refer the patient for further medical evaluation, along with providing explanations that support the decision made, and alerting to cases where insufficient data is available to issue a reliable judgment. It also provides mechanisms for doctors to review results and continuously develop and improve the performance of models under human supervision.

One of the most prominent features of the project is its adoption of a federated learning-supported architecture, which allows models to be trained and improved in cooperation between several hospitals without the need to transfer or collect patient data in a central location. This enhances privacy protection and supports the responsible use of artificial intelligence in the healthcare sector.

This achievement embodies the advanced level reached by students of the Prince Al Hussein Bin Abdullah College of Information Technology in designing innovative technical solutions and developing artificial intelligence applications with a societal impact. It also reflects Al al-Bayt University's keenness to support student creativity and enhance its presence in national technical forums and competitions.

On this occasion, the Prince Al Hussein Bin Abdullah College of Information Technology extends its warmest congratulations and blessings to student Yahya Lababneh for this well-deserved achievement, appreciating the efforts of His Excellency the President of the University, the support of the Dean of the College, Professor Dr. Mohammed Jaradat, and the follow-up of the Head of the Data Science and Artificial Intelligence Department, Dr. Suhaila Abu Awaida, and her continuous keenness to support students and encourage them to innovate, excel, and actively participate in scientific and technical competitions.

The college wishes the student further progress and success, and to continue his journey in innovation, research, and development, contributing to raising the name of Al al-Bayt University and enhancing its position in the fields of data science and artificial intelligence.
